Well, to kick off the new topic, I'd like to post this little glitch I found a few weeks ago. First, go to Bob-Omb Battlefield. Then go to the cannon that is at the top of the steep hill with the red coin. Now, jump in and aim as high and as far right as you can. You should see two clouds, the left one is the one that you are already aiming at. Go over to the one right next to it, and aim just inside the right edge. If you aimed it just right, when you reach the peak of your blast, you will hit a tiny invisible barrier. You will hear the BOING sound, and will fall back into the cannon. This is fun to watch with the fixed camera mode, not only because you're going about triple the hight of the mountain, but also because when you land back inside the cannon, it will go to a cool view where you see under the entire course. You will also see the cannon's shaft. It's a lot deeper than I would have thought.

There's another way to kill yourself in a cannon...

1. Go to Wet-Dry world and raise the water to the max.
2. Go to the cannon on that brown hill thingy.
3. Aim at the sun then go as high as you can get the crosshair and shoot yourself out.
4.You should hit the invisible wall, take alot of damage, and land back inside the cannon.
5.Repeat step 3.
6.All your health should be gone and you'll land back in the cannon.
7.Go shoot your dead Mario. He dies as soon as he hits the ground.

Whoop, whoop, whoop.

Question: if you get into a cannon as dead Mario, with a wing cap, and then shoot out of the cannon, can you fly around until you hit something even though you have 0 health? If so, why does this work?

Wow, ToiletDuck64, that screenshot of the cave is much clearer than even my live TV picture. You must be using an emulator.

You can see in the picture where the black hole is, so as I suspected it is pretty much over the lake.

I see Smithkakarot that you are now in the hall of fame. Now I'm interested in what you said about everything in the game being accessible? Did you think of some trick for getting through any wall? Oh, and do you mean without a Gameshark or any other cheating device?

Of course he's using an emulator. Looks like Project64 or something even better.

Anyway, would there be a way to set the camera really high or something and get a three-dimensional map of the level? You can't really get your bearings in levels like HMC.

And what about the flying death thing...? Has anyone tried this before?

Hey, this is DSkillz. I contributed some in the original =Secrets... topic. I'm sure nobody remembers me because I haven't posted here in a long time. So, I heard the original topic got all the way up to 500 posts? Wow! I remember for a while in August 2003 me and Bullet Bill were virtually the main ones contributing to =Secrets... and Nate Gillison's "Stunts, Tricks, & Glitches" topics. It looked like "Secrets..." was struggling a little to stay alive last October, but I saw it pick a lot when I logged in at the library months later.

Anyway, I've spent the last few nights reading the second secrets topic (Damn, I won't do that again. It definitly wasn't boring, but it was still like reading a 1000-page novel). It blew my mind that people are still finding out all kinds of crazy stuff about this game! No wonder this board is still getting more posts than a lot of 128-bit games'. Beat the game with 16 stars? Getting in the aquarium in the JRB entrance room? I gotta get back into the mix.

But looking at CHOCLAIR5's Hall of Fame, not to be bragging, but I know I could have been on that list. I didn't find any major glitches, but I found a few things. Need credentials? Here are a few things I posted in the brief time I was here from July-September 2003:

I remember back then somebody posted about a "Flying Corpse" and a "Swimming Corpse" (tell me ya'll still don't call it that!). Well, I had found about those years before and came up with several variations of those glitches, which I posted here.

I also stopped the camera in Wet, Dry World's cannon, shot out, got all the way downtown and swam around, and made my way back, all while keeping Lakitu in the cannon hole. Not nearly as impressive as getting back up to the pipe with the water level down, but good for its time.

Also in WDW, I found an opening in the cage with the star and the elevator above downtown you can reach by wall-jumping up all the way up the cage from the bottom (the opening is somewhere just below the elevator).

Are there any plans to add to the Hall of Fame soon? If not, that's fine.

I, I, me.

Don't act like you won't give a damn if you don't get on that list, because you will. Quit your not-so-subtle modesty act and just deal with the fact no one remembered you or your discoveries.

Sorry if I'm coming off as a jerk, but you did the same. By the way, not that I'm bragging, but I hadn't posted on this board for months and I was still elected to the Hall of Fame.

See how stupid it looks when I say something arrogant and try to sound humble at the same time?

My bad if I came off as arrogant or a jerk. But what the hell? Did you even read the whole post? Did I come at it like "Yo, you know ya'll wrong for not putting me in the Hall of Fame because I'm the greatest gamer ever with the best glitches ever"? No, I didn't. I said that it was great the first topic did so well and great the second topic came out good, and I was just saying that I could have been and why I could been on that list. But I admit, I could have been more clear in saying that, if no more members were being inducted, I didn't want to disrupt things.

That'd be cool. Yesterday, I beat the game with 31 stars for the first time, got on top of the roof with 0 stars for the first time, and right now, I'm trying to merge with the door so I can beat the game with 16. That is a lot harder than I anticipated.

I haven't played this game in awhile but that level where the water raise is, when the cannon is activated aim at the sun and shoot. You will hit a barrier and fall right back into the cannon, after a few more times u die but u still can repeat that cannon shooting. Even if your already dead still shooting at the sun, if u miss the cannon when trying to hit the sun ur automatically dead.
Im not sure if that is a glitch or not.

Dom Dunc: "I'm still wondering if there's a way to swim up through the ceiling of the Wet-Dry World town when the water level is raised above it."

The few times I've raised the water over the ceiling the bugs went up with the water, and for those wondering they come back down with it as well. But I know of no way to get Mario up there. We may have to put our heads together about this, as maybe someone knows yet of a particular glitch behavior relating to water and angled walls.

I'm wondering if you can do the "stuck in the wall" glitch in WDW without first doing the dry pipe glitch. I was trying the fast backward jumps into the short gray wall at the end of the cage, but the wall doesn't seem to be shaped right for setting up any ram speed. I either push against the vertical part or land on top of the sloped part.

This might have been discovered by now, but if you do the backwards long jump up the endless stairs at the right angle, you can get behind both of the pillars. Not too spectacular, but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Getting behind the one on the left is a bit harder, because some of the time you fall into Wet Dry World.

Bullet Bill said: maybe someone knows yet of a particular glitch behavior relating to water and angled walls.

I've been looking at that part where the angled grey roof connects with one of the brown pillars, wondering if there's someway to force yourself through there so you can reach above the ceiling.

Well, I just came across something of interest. I was trying to enter the Black Room of Death without the wing cap, or cannon but with the backwards speed jump. I couldn't quite do this, but instead I went off at an odd angle, shot super high, then crashed into the invisible barrier.

Then, I tried again, but the effect was really different. For those of you who are trying to swim under the castle, this may benefit you. I did the speed jump again, but went off to the left. At this point, I had no control, and I was shooting around the back of the tower with Mario laying down on his back. As I got to the right side, Mario suddenly stopped, half of him passed through the roof, then he just teetered there for a second. However, he just popped back up through the roof, and continued to shoot around out of control.

If you look around the back of the castle, you can see that it's actually got a lake underneath it. It has been speculated that there may be some way to get under there and swim around.

Mario Freak, I also experimented with that jump to try and get under the castle, but I either unded up in the black room, or just flew to the back of the castle.

Yeah, I just tried to do it again, but to no avail. But I did stumble upon another glitch.

First, do the backwards speed jump up the endless stairs against either the left or right wall. When you are going at your fastest point, and are near the top of the stairs, Mario should stop, and appear to be pushing up against an invisible barrier in front of him. Even though he is just standing there pushing against the barrier, he still sounds like he is doing the speed-jump at his fastest point.

A few minor things.

Some of you may already know of this, but if you butt-stomp onto one of the brick towers in Shifting Sand Land, you will get stuck in it, not unlike getting stuck in the sand. However, I have only done it on the tower closest to the cannon. It should be possible on the others, but I have not tried.

Also in Shifting Sand Land, when I entered the pyramid once, I tried to go back up through the entrance (the regular way). I wall kicked off one of the side walls and went into the trap door. I was able to wall kick very quickly up to four times, but it didn't really accomplish anything. Some one with a turbo controller might be able to find a limit or something. It might sound confusing, but play the game and you'll see what I'm saying.

Another interesting thing you can do involves getting the 120 star triple jump power-up. Then enter Lethal Lava Land. Head into the volcano. Head up the ledges until you reach the area with the bully nad the waterfall. If you triple jump against the water fall, you can very slowly "slide" your way down while Mario's flips protect him. Eventually he will stop flipping and you will get burned.

One more note. There's a shortcut in Snowman's Land a few of you may not know about. From the beginning there is the area with the three flower-head guys (I forget their name). Not far from them is a slope with a fence on top. You can easily triple jump the hill and find yourself not only very close to the snowman's head, but on the other side of the course.

I hope this stuff is somewhat "new."
