Yeah, it's one of those situations where I ask myself

'Now, why didn't I think of that?'

Especially amazing considering how long a lot of us have been studying that pillar.

However, I assume that the timing for hitting A for the wallkick is tight. Don't you have to hit A after bumping the grill but before bumping the pillar?

If you miss and fall, is the B and Z buttons enabled so you can break your fall and avoid damage?

>_> I just constantly tap A and it works.

Whether you can 'safe fall' or not, it depends on how you hit the fence and pillar. Most of the time you can, but when you don't, it's 2 health counters worth of damage.

Nice method, but a variation on this has been around for a while (i saw it on here actually) If you jump at the right angle you can make it into the pipe with one single wall jump off the angled part of the pillar

As for your method, i found it worked 9/10 with a long run up and aim as far left as you can so you dont hit the grating but the grey wall to the left of it, then furiously tap a, but make sure you hold a after you jump from the pillar to get the height needed

I don't know if this has been discovered already, but I found a glitch that allows you to grab a Bob-Omb just before it explodes. That makes him bigger for a moment and pushes you A LOT in the opposite direction. You probably didn't understand my crappy explanation, so here's a video I made, which is also crappy. :P

Maybe this can be used to get infinite coins from a Bob-Omb! Just maybe...

In LLL you can see an arch if you look forward, if you jump when you're under it but at the very left or at the very right of it and keep A hold you will pass through it and start sliding... it's howewer really useless..

(sorry for the english but i don't know it really well and i don't think it's easy to explain that glitch :P)

ask if you don't understand and i'll try to explain better..

Wow, another dry pipe method... how unexpected!

Heh, if you had of asked me about long jumping from the orange roof, I could have told you that it was impossible... I had already tried this. I think by slightly aiming your long jump to the left it helped. Then it's just two quick wall jumps and you're in the pipe.

I got a huge bob-omb in my hands once... and it wouldn't explode for some reason.

Once I noticed something pretty cool. If you go right next to one of the pillars in the clock room right below the entrance to RR or WMotR, and look inside the wall you will find the same picture you see to enter the wing cap course just lying on the ground. I just wanted to contribute something.

Hawkeye: Whether you can 'safe fall' or not, it depends on how you hit the fence and pillar. Most of the time you can, but when you don't, it's 2 health counters worth of damage.

I was just noticing that. I would just keep practicing the jump with damage until the meter turns beet red. Then the fastest way to recover is to exit and climb the stairs again.

tetsuo2019: Nice method, but a variation on this has been around for a while (i saw it on here actually) If you jump at the right angle you can make it into the pipe with one single wall jump off the angled part of the pillar

I've tried that before. And I only remember one discussion here about that method, and that is was determined not to work. Mario bounces too far to the right and misses the grill. I'd have to see a video to believe it.

As for your method, i found it worked 9/10 with a long run up and aim as far left as you can so you dont hit the grating but the grey wall to the left of it, then furiously tap a, but make sure you hold a after you jump from the pillar to get the height needed

It wasn't until I started pumping A furiously that I started doing the second jump toward the grill. But I never got it high enough to reach.

ameba2: I don't know if this has been discovered already, but I found a glitch that allows you to grab a Bob-Omb just before it explodes.

I've only done that once, and it was by accident. I just found myself holding an oversized bob-omb.

Brightguy: Heh, if you had of asked me about long jumping from the orange roof, I could have told you that it was impossible... I had already tried this. I think by slightly aiming your long jump to the left it helped. Then it's just two quick wall jumps and you're in the pipe.

Maybe you were the one I was referring to. You tried the same jump I did of aiming right for the pillar and trying to bounce off it, but it proved not to work.

YoshiRider2006: If you go right next to one of the pillars in the clock room right below the entrance to RR or WMotR, and look inside the wall you will find the same picture you see to enter the wing cap course...

Those are highly interesting screenshots to a SM64 veteran. I especially like the paintings that I recognized as course backdrops, particalarly the one for Big Boo's Haunt. Also interesting is the far-away fiew of the snow slide.

I'd like to see the "Roman ruins" backdrop hacked this way.

Freeze the game with the Backwards Longjump

Here's a little glitch for you. Go to big boo's haunt, and go into the shed outside of the main building. Ride the elevator down. Get off the elevator and start some backwards longjumps. Backwards longjump onto the elevator and it should start and move upwards, at this point you should start doing backwards longjumps along the ground. Push into the wall (keep the longjumps going) you should get stuck in the wall and keep getting pushed upwards (all this time you should keep the BLJ going). When the elevator reaches the floor above you, the camer angle will change and the game will instantly freeze, the music keeps going but nothing else works and a reset is needed. I think this happens because once the upper floor is loaded, Mario being slightly in the wall means that he is out of the level boundaries and the game crashes. Why he just doesn't die like other out of bounds glitches I don't know.

WARNING MAY DAMAGE CART, USE GLITCH AT OWN RISK.

I do the BLJ's on the elevator, but I can't get Mario stuck in the wall.

While I do the BLJ's Mario seems to partially go through the elevator and jump back to surface, but when I reach the floor above the elevator stops and I'm just jumping around non-glitchingly

Yeah, I got it to work now. I had to do the ya-ya jibblies on the border of the elevator and as soon as I hit the ceiling.

Mario is all alone in a room of nothingness, with BBM background as walls. I can move him freely and there seems to be no way out.

Kinda scary if you ask me. And a way to sabotage every star in the stage(for that star sabotaging topic).

Wait, what? For you Mario ended up an empty room? For me the game just froze completely!

Can you get a video or screenshot?

I also tried this glitch on the first elevator in Hazy Maze Cave and Mario just died like in other out of bounds glitches.

After doing the glitch several times again, i've found pretty interesting results. I got them on videos, but I'll upload them tomorrow, as uploading them now will take forever. I've uploaded some screenshots taken from them, though.

Most of the times I ended up in the small room of nothingness. Also, the music in this room changes to Merry Go 'Round.

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/3885/snapshot200507252230338wm.jpg
http://img290.imageshack.us/img290/4958/snapshot200507252230549nd.jpg

One time I ended up under the merry go round. I jumped and everything returned to normal, I was unglitched riding the merry go round.

Another time something really weird happened. I ended up in the merry go round, but unless I was on Mario view or 1st person view I get a view of what seems from beyond the level boundaries. Don't worry, I got it on video.

Something else worth of notice, those 2 times I ended up in a different place I had stopped BLJ and was just tapping A doing regular jumps.

In fact, in one of them the elevator had already stopped and was going down as I pressed against the wall tapping A.

I'm thinking the room of nothingness is somewhere deep below the merry go round and thus the music.

I would guess that the reason it's not freezing for you is because you're doing it on an emulator. Perhaps the emulator can cope with the ridiculous speeds Mario must be going at better than the console.

I look forward to your videos.

You might want to also try this on the elevators in Hazy Maze Cave and Wet-Dry World (where I've got freezes)

Also take a look at what happens when you put Tick-Tock Clock on fast speed (quarter to the hour) then find the elevator that is against the wall of the level and do the BLJ. I ended up falling down outside of the level and dying!

There is an elevator in Wet-Dry World, it's in that cage, you need to break a box to get into. To start the elevator you need to jump on the elevator outside of the cage, and it will fall. Then when it reaches the bottom get inside the cage and jump on the elevator.

Oh yeah, that elevator. I totally forgot.

I tried it against the 2 walls and the fence. On the wall opposite to the fence, it stops my BLJs and I end up jumping normally. On the other wall and the fence, Mario does the ya-ya jibblies and pushes me through the wall/fence to the walls surrounding the level.

I'm fairly confident that I will be able to use this to get under Big Boo's Roundabout (one time I was launched through the roundabout and appeared on the other side). It'll just take many tries, since if you go too fast with the longjumps the game freezes and if you go too slow you don't get launched.

Wow, amazing glitch! I tried it in Hazy Maze Cave and something really weird happened (I used the elevator that brings you to Dorrie's lagoon). I made the game freeze twice and died a lot of times. But in one chance I got Mario to go through the wall, the screen went black and, after some seconds, I heard the Wahhh sound you get when you fall to a hole. But instead of being Mario's voice, it sounded more like SSB Luigi's voice! I have no idea on what caused Mario to change his voice.

[offtopic]Do you want to see the beta leftovers in you ROM? Then here's your chance. Simply download the file, UnRAR it, and Open viewer. Click Open ROM select an ABCD byteordered SM64 ROM. Then either find next or select a specific address. If you are unsure if your ROM is ABCD or not, go here and download the file. Please note that color is not 100% perfect as of now. If you would like perfect color, you would have to download the decompressor and view with a dissassembler.[/offtopic]

Then you should be able to edit the RAM addresses during gameplay. Don't put any codes on and go to RAM address 8033B1C4. Tell me the default value of the next 4 values.

Then all you have to do is change that to 4480 when you want the code on and the default value when you want the code off.

This is a cool glitch. I tried it on BBH and usually I get going so fast that I fall off the elevator and get stuck against the wall for a few seconds-its probably happend to some of you before. But once I just popped up on the other side of the mansion near the back door. I think its kind of like the one in the alcove in THI.
