to all you glitchters out there i got a glitch for you to try cause i can't do it

anyways in the basement there is a red staircase(the one leading to the locked door) and i was wondering if you could do the longjump backwards to gain enough space to be blasted through the ceiling and into somewhere special perhaps a floor less room leading to the secret ocean beneath the castle.

"anyways in the basement there is a red staircase(the one leading to the locked door) and i was wondering if you could do the longjump backwards to gain enough space to be blasted through the ceiling and into somewhere special perhaps a floor less room leading to the secret ocean beneath the castle."

There are some "black rooms of death" that you can get to, but currently they require the help of the rabbit and Dom Dunc's glitch describes how to do that. The basement stairs are actually too steep for the long jump to work right on them. I was hoping that they could be used to shoot into the black room behind the door to the courtyard.

As for getting to the "secret ocean", that is outside the castle, which is a separate area of the game and accessible only by a warp. Only three doors and three special course exits do this so far. So there is actually no way to "break out" of the castle from the inside.

I am even doubtful as to whether Mario could get into that secret ocean and live. Someone once said he flew halfway through the wall right above this ocean, but he just died. So this place could be an "illegal area", similar to the inside of Bob-Omb mountain.

The backwards longjump only seems to work on certain staircases, it has something to do with how steep it is.

I've come up with a small hypothesis about the Yoshi Suicide Glitch, let's run it up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes.

From observation, it seems to me that Yoshi has a walk cycle that means that he walks a set distance, then he either turns left, right, or U turns. This causes him to have a fairly triangular path usually. During his normal walk cycle, he often comes close to walking on the slanted part of the roof towards the back, and obviously here he is hard coded to not turn right as that would take him off the roof, however, there seems to be nothing stopping him do a U turn, it seems to be random currently as what determines what direction he turns in but if he happens to step onto the slanted roof while U turning this seems to affect the 'set distance' he walks meaning that he doesn't stop and walks right off the edge. I also believe that the reason this has stayed undiscovered for so long is that normally he just reappears in his normal place straight away, and if you weren't watching you wouldn't know that he fell off the roof. So that's my theory, the suicide is just part of Yoshi's normal walk cycle (albeit a very strange part), it has just gone unnoticed for years.

And for this discovery (not because he's been asking) I'd like to nominate CHOCLAIR5 for the hall of fame (and add my vote). Not only did he discover that glitch, he's also discovered some of Super Mario Sunshine, he started the 'Revival' of this topic and came up with the Hall of Fame in the first place. For which I owe him.

Well, that about wraps it up, except for this, I actually archived the 'Beat the game with 16 stars' topic before it died so if anyone's interested in reading it, direct your attention here:

How is the Suicide Yoshi a major glitch? You just sit there and wait for him to do something while you go grab a bite to eat... and then he reappears again anyway. What's the big deal?

WTH!!!!!!

Just a couple min. ago I played SM64 and I used my 120 star file and when I blasted myself to the castle and landed (opposite of the waterfall) I saw Yoshi (which is weird since he hangs around the waterfall) and then I saw him jumping off the castle (we're still opposite of the waterfall) so I quickly followed him, but he wasn't there, but when I went back to the top of the castle Yoshi was there in his usual spot.

So did this ever happen to any of you?

I was working on the endless stair glitch, and once while going up them really fast, I somehow found myself standing right on the clock in front of its course entrance.

I just got inside the other fish tank. Also while in it I looked into the darkness and I could see all the doors and Toad in the lobby, the basement door, and Big Boo.

I think you have to have come from either the basement or from the upstairs since the last course entrance for these doors to appear.

Any topic that is in the groove can never die. Even if it runs out of lives and you get a "game over", you still can continue with "okey dokey".

And to add to that, when it arose again, it did so in a glorified body. In the old topic's days you still needed 31 stars to beat the game, you could only enter one black room of death, and the fish tanks were only for decoration.

Cool, thanks for your votes guys.I would now like to nominate PabloX Rulz, for discovering some camera glitches, this glitch:

First of all, go to the second Bowser stage. Go through the level until you reach the colorful cage with the elevator to the second "floor" of the stage.
Jump on the elevator to reach the second floor, but don't move. Wait for the elevator to descend automatically, and while it descends, push the control stick to the right, so that Mario is pushing the right wall while descending (don't let it go never). When the right wall ends and the exit appears...
You'll be floating in mid-air while pushing the wall!! When you stop pushing right, Mario will fall. You can do this the other way round (while going up, as I discovered it first), but its harder.

,providing many high quality pictures of glitches and such, and also for keeping the previous topic alive by bumping it just before it went into purge land.

1 vote for PabloX Rulz.

We're running out of people to nominate, but I can think of one more. However,I nominated the last member to be put in,so it's only fair that someone else gets a chance to nominate. Also,I'm leaving for my cottage this morning(actually in less than an hour from now)and won't be back until Thursday. If someone gets into the hall of fame, then we need someone to make the "official announcement".Since Dom did a good job of making the official announcement of the twelfth member, then if he's up to it,he has the job of making the official announcement. However,if he's not up to it or he wants to give someone else a chance, then whoever he gives the authority to will be the one making the official announcement.

"Erm... about Mario LLD, could I have a description? GS code, where you can see Mario like this (in the intro?) and how much you enjoyed it."

The "Low Level of Detail" Mario is the low-polygon version of Mario that is used when he is viewed in motion at large distances.

Since I don't have a gameshark, I use this method of viewing it: Go to the top of Bob-Omb mountain and talk to the boss. Here when Mario walks away from the boss, Lakitu likewise moves away from Mario. Walk away from the boss, so you have a profile view of Mario. As Lakitu reaches a certain distance, Mario's sideburns will disappear, and (less obvious) his moustache will get bigger. This is Mario LLD. If you stop walking, however, the regular Mario comes back.

This will work anywhere where you can get a distant view of Mario, but this area is the easiest one to describe. The Boo mansion lobby can also be used for this. And with stop cam, you can do it most places.

Someone here says he got this view close up with a gameshark, and didn't know why Mario was different. I don't remember who it was. I believe he was using a code that makes Mario really big. But since I am not a gamesharker, I have no codes.

The next thing I'll try is to see if Mario's reflection has a low-level-of-detail view, and if the mirror room can be used as a place to get a closeup of this. The success of it will probably depend on if the reflection's LLD view happens together with regular Mario's, or if it independantly acts according to distance from the real Lakitu.

Yup, that was me. I was doing the beginning of "The adventures of Big Mario" in Big Boo's Haunt, and when I went into the merry go round, I made him walk and then it happened......he turned into the LLD Mario.

I would have experimented more with the codes to make Mario big or small, but while playing as Tiny Mario, the game froze and the files were deleted (but the files came back after I got a star in the "replacement" file). I do not know if the Big Mario code can erase games, but I recommend not to use it and the other code, too risky.

But I wonder, what is the purpose of the LLD Mario?

"But I wonder, what is the purpose of the LLD Mario?"

This is an simplified model of an object for viewing at a distance, in order to save processing power. In VRML speak, this is referred to as "levels of detail".

In the Mario 64 engine, they evidently opted to use the low detail Mario only when he is in motion, since processing power is not important when standing still.

Smithkakarot was wondering if Mario LLD appears in the intro. This I didn't check. I don't remember anything funny looking about that Mario, unless you decide to mess with it and make it funny looking.

In a short tryst with the Gameshark long ago, I remember codes for alternate versions of Mario, including an "old style Mario", which had a flat coloring without the solid shading. This may have been the low detail Mario for all I know.

anthpel11 also said his appearance was "blocky". It's bound to look pretty strange since the rendering wasn't intended to be seen up close.

Hmmm...I think I have something, I don't know if this is old or what, but however:

Have you ever shot yourself against a wall (using the cannon), and then, instead of hitting against the wall, just passing through it? It happened to me yesterday. I was in Whomp's Fortress, and I shot Mario against the gray wall to the right of the cannon (the one with yellow arrows over it, it's kinda hard to explain). When I was expecting Mario to hit the wall, he just passed through it, and it fell in the grass at the other side. I was like "O_O WTF?" when it happened, I tried to do it again, but nothing. Does anyone knows anything about this? Can it be some bug in that wall, or something? Feel free to discuss, cause I gotta go now.

Evil Toaster, the glitch you've described is well known, but I've never heard of it done with the cannon. An easier way to do it is to take the cork box and put it down in front of the wall, now jump between the box and the wall, you should be pushed through the wall, from here you can land in the water (or which you can only usually see a shallow part) and swim around underneath the level.

In other news, I've been working on a trick that Bullet Bill describes on his site (he says that he wonders if there is any way to get back out of the 'town' in wet-dry world while the water is low) I've come up with a method, and have come close but have never actually managed it. I'll try to describe it as best I can.

When you first enter the town turn left and look for the grey building with a flat roof. Now drain the water and get up on this roof. From here look over to the red roof near the enterance to the town. Run at it and triple jump over it to the slant on the opposite side. Slide down on your butt for a second then jump and aim at the brown pillar near the enterance. Wall jump off this pillar and push right and try to get back through the hole.

I thought if we all tried someone might manage it.

And while I'm here I'll add my vote for Blackstar

Well, I beat you once again Super Mario 64. You say it's impossible, I laugh in your face!

Inside the Dry Pipe in Wet-Dry World

I knew this was possible without a GameShark, and after a day of trying out different methods I finally found a way. And I'm going to leave you on tenterhooks once again, because I can't reveal it to you right now because I didn't catch it on video (oh noes!) but I will do, mark my words. And in case you think you've caught me out, the method I described before doesn't work, but feel free to try it as much as you want.

I will say one thing about this method though, it's crazy.

Alright, if you can be nominated with a camera trick, then here's one. I did it at Whomp's Fortress, but you can do it anywhere. Turn on the stop camera. Then go near an object (preferabally a Pirahna Plant), and press R. Then run away. The object will now disappear! I also wish people would give a **** about my tricks. C'mon, people!
