Wow. You guys found some neat things while I was away. Its a me, have you figured out what you did to make Yoshi walk off the edge?
Yoshi seems to only walk in a right-triangular pattern, one way or the other, no matter where I stand or walk.
What part of the castle disappears? I even did a double jump from the pinnacle, which is as high as I can go, while looking straight down with stop cam. Were you using an emulator? It may have another cut-off distance.
Speaking of which. Go in Cool, Cool Mountain, and stand next to the penguin facing her, in the direction toward the far end of the field. Stop cam and walk as far as you can. The penguin will disappear right in front of Lakitu.

I haven't tried to get Yoshi to kill himself yet, but I have found something else, perhaps unkown.
If you time it correctly, you can jump on top of a switch-palace-switch, and right when you land on it, jump again. I did this in the Metal hat course. I jumped into the water, was carried with the current, then I landed on the far shore and the text explanation came up.
I also did it on the Wing Cap course, with a triple jump. I flew to the bottom to see what would happen, nothing did. Perhaps something could be made out of it, though I'm not sure.
I haven't tried it for the Invisible cap course yet. --- "Bugy Ding Dong shall rise again, like a magnificent Phoenix. Or some other town in Arizona. Heehehehaha!" |

Use C-Up camera mode to look straight up (or as close as you can get to straight up) from the very top of the main tower, and the castle (well, as much of the castle as you can see from that angle) will disappear. --- "You'll go FLYING LIKE A NITRO-FUELED DRACONIS AIRSHIP!!!!" --Karthesios The Insult Comic Bishounen |

I still haven't found a way to do it consistently, but I know that it pretty much always automatically triggers itself(the glitch that is)when Yoshi slants of onto another side of the castle(kind of hard to explain, but I'll try to make a video for it,that may be hard because it's fairly random. Also,Bullet Bill,I think you were referring to me when you asked if it could be done consistently(I guess you didn't read my post,I was the first who posted it[unless of course, you used common sense, and figured that if a second person could do it,then they probably knew how they did it]).
I also found a way to stand on air/water/land that you normally couldn't stand on(This has probably already been discovered though).I know three different methods:
1)From where you strart out when you start the game, turn around and triple jump up the left hill(the one that goes towards the water, but also is against an invisible wall).Land so that you are sitting. Now get yourself against the invisible wall by jump kicking. Now slide down the hill and jump, and if done correctly you will be standing half on water, half on air(If you haven't drained the moat)or half on slanted land that you couldn't get to normally, half on air(if you have).
2)Get to the top of the castle, and go to the front area(where you would perform the Ghost Lakitu glitch)and bakcwards long jump on the left slant. If done properly, you will do a super jump all the way to the fish pond. You will be standing on half and half,if done correctly.
3)This is an IDEA,and is probably possible, but onnly works if you've drained the moat. Now go to the green hill closest to the pond(on the side opposite the cannon). Now jump kick your way over.I'm not sure if this is possible, but I think if done correctly you can get kind of "stuck" like you do in the other two methods.
Also,in method 1,while on the green hill,I've done some weird stuff with the invisible wall, like having Mario vibrate rapidly in the invisble wall, pretty weird. As I said before, this has probably already been discovered. --- |THPS4:190/190 Goals and all gaps|THPS3:Beaten with all characters| |Banjo-Kazooie:Grunty's Revenge Completed 100% in under 3 hours|SMS:120 Shines

"Use C-Up camera mode to look straight up (or as close as you can get to straight up) from the very top of the main tower, and the castle (well, as much of the castle as you can see from that angle) will disappear."
Well, C-Up, if I am correct, makes you look down, and that is what you want to do to see the castle disappear. I'll just have to keep messing with that. Does the roof itself disappear so you see the water under it?
"I think you were referring to me when you asked if it could be done consistently(I guess you didn't read my post,I was the first who posted it[unless of course, you used common sense, and figured that if a second person could do it,then they probably knew how they did it])."
Exactly, since you clarified that you didn't have it figured out, I was interested to see if its a me did.
"...you will be standing half on water, half on air(If you haven't drained the moat)or half on slanted land that you couldn't get to normally, half on air(if you have)."
It sounds like you may be on the verge of figuring out how we can get underground and even swim in the water that runs under the castle, an idea that I have been discussing here for some time.
"...you will do a super jump all the way to the fish pond. You will be standing on half and half."
I've done the jump and got in the fish pond, but I just landed in the water. Half of what and half of what?
"Now go to the green hill closest to the pond(on the side opposite the cannon). Now jump kick your way over.I'm not sure if this is possible, but I think if done correctly you can get kind of 'stuck'."
You mean jump leftward along the cliff that runs around the back of the pond? Maybe this getting stuck is a preamble to getting under the hill and discovering a "new place". |

Depending on whether or not you drained the moat, you will be standing on half water, half air,and if not, half slanted ground. You also have to angle it properly.I've done it before. --- |THPS4:190/190 Goals and all gaps|THPS3:Beaten with all characters| |Banjo-Kazooie:Grunty's Revenge Completed 100% in under 3 hours|SMS:120 Shines

Okay. Hehehehe. I decided to take a run at the secret Lagoon in the sunken ship. Not the one located at the front, but the one back by the chests.. And I found once you go up that "Chimeny" so to speak, it is possible to move around (With patience) by tapping A as mario gets to the surface, so his body comes out of the water, but he does NOT jump. Keep making him swim in that aquard manner, while turning him left/right. The movement is VERY slow. but I'm exploring as is.. Not sure if people have discovered this yet. Just thought I would post. I think I may be on to something >> << |

Finally getting something posted here besides bump is kind of like making it to the surface of the secret lagoon just before you're about to drown.
Your discovery sounds exciting. I only have the actual game set to mess with, and I hope your method will work on that. When you were describing the front vs the back routes, are you referring to the first one Neo Ninja described, where the ceiling turns a corner by the wall?
If I got it right, we are supposed to keep swimming (hitting A) while directing the stick left and right, and Mario should begin to travel horizontally. Is that how you do it? I'll try this as soon as I endeavor to get up there again. Let's see if we can get Mario to a corner really far away and get a distant screen shot of the ship's nose sticking out of the water.

Heya there. I've been working with the ship a bit more, and as soon as my computer stops being a jerk, I'll get a picture (if possible) of the ships nose. I didn't see it much possible from what I had done.. Anyways, yes, just keep tapping A. If Mario jumps out of the water, just resurface him. It takes ALOT of time, and is very VERY tedious, but I have repeated the process with this ROM, and have made sure to keep all the cheats off. The left/right movements seem to move him through "corners"? Of a grid, or somthing of the sort, that seems to exist over the ship. Also, I'm not sure if it is possible to leave the actual boundaries of the ship, but still move around inside. Any help I can get is much appreciated.
The point at where I am getting above the ship, is where Neo described. |

Mkay, yeah, my thoughts wee correct, so far. I seem to be limited to the side of the ship you get "lodged" in. Wheather it be the back route or the front. What I think, is that Mario isn't actualy leaving the ship, what he is doing, is stretching the boundaries of the walls by force. (And a little bit of poor construction on the designers part) I still have things to test though, so bear with me. What I have found though, seems to point to this. Now, is there any way we could get outside the ship, or into one of these "Lagoons" without water in the ship? Like when side-jumping through tinyhuge island? If so, that may prove an interesting feat, as with a "always metal mario" cheat on, I tested the "durability" of Neo's exit from the ship, and the walls still look to be weak, as they are when the water is there. Just some thoughts :D Also, it would be dandy if I could get that "Increased run speed" GS code. I have a few things I would like to test...

Okay, well, in a bit of study, I did find at least SOMETHING. The path that Yoshi moves on IS random, but it is also restrained to about 20 paths. I mapped them out on a crude Paint drawing, which I discarded after realising there was no difinitive pattern in which he moves. I have NO idea as of yet, why in the world he would plunge to his death like a moron, but prehaps it has something to do with you inturupting his programmed path, by getting on the roof without the cannon. Maybe there is something that happens, as you leap off that wall, that causes the game to suddenly forget what Yoshi should be doing. I dunno how such a thing would happen, but if we can get Yoshi off that castle, into the courtyard, we could use him to wedge us under the castle... Anyway, I'll keep looking. Because as far as I have seen, his falling off the castle is completely random. --- Draconis-world.com, a freeform roleplaying site. It's mine :D |
