Someone wanted to get out of the moat. Well I found a wall in the pond (not drained) that I can put my head through. It's below the water so I'll follow the instructions to get into the "jolly roger lagoon" glich and hopefully get through the wall.

PabloX the window on the tallest tower is were I fell through. I might have gone at an angle. I am trying to get a screen for you to prove that it's possible.

So you're saying you went from THIS window:
http://pablocm.tripod.com/sm64/window.jpg

To the other side of THIS ceiling?
http://pablocm.tripod.com/sm64/sky_ceil.jpg

I don't that's even remotely possible, but if you say you can provide photographic evidence...

One more thing, how did someone see a red F and a platform behind a panting. Could some make a sceen shot of that for me.

The not-so-mysterious red F: (it's the trapdoor to Bowser's stage)
http://pablocm.tripod.com/sm64/red_f.jpg
and opened:

Hopefully that will help :).

When it's for glitch searching I always use an emulator (that's how i get the somewhat high quality pictures :P).

To get to the top tower it's quite easy:
You know that the castle roof is very glitchy? We'll use a glitched wall to get to the top. Get Mario in front of the western wall of the tower (looking the castle from the front it's the left wall) and just run up to the very top.
Here's the picture for reference:
http://pablocm.tripod.com/sm64/tower_wall.jpg
http://pablocm.tripod.com/sm64/tower_wall2.jpg

PD: I love taking screenshots ;).

I posted the following glitches in another topic, but I'll post it here too.

Glitch 1

Name: Swim with me!

Go to Tiny-Huge Island. Go to where the big bob-omb is. Carry it to the top (you must not drain the water at the top). When in the water, the giant bob-omb will still be in your hands while Mario swim with it! Now when you leave the water, you will walk fast like you have a box or a bob-omb in your hands! Becareful though, when you jump or fall, it will fall out of your hands and it will blow up (like usual).

Glitch 2

Name: Don't smoke in lava!

Go to Leatha Lava Land and get a shell. Crash into the rolling log. Mario will be stuck and say something like "Ha ha, ha ha, ha ha, ha ha," or something like that. Even if you loose a life, it's realy funny.

Glitch 3

Name: Big bully takes a walk in the lava.

Go to Leatha Lava Land and push the big bully (the one alone) on the platform that sinks in the lava. He will stand on it and sometimes, walks in the lava. It's funny and an easier way to get star #1.

So, Glitches Are Cool, if I got your description clear, you flew right into the highest window in front of the castle main tower. But instead of falling to the black room, you somehow warped to the indoor stage and landed on top of the ceiling with the galaxy picture.

Could you hear the indoor music at this time?

Could you see the main lobby through the ceiling?

When you looked at the galaxy to get out, did you enter Mario Wings to the Sky?

If you can reproduce the glitch, we'd like to learn how to do it.

It sounds like a galaxy painting exists somewhere under the castle roof that is a duplicate of the one inside. It may be a feature that was abandoned in process. Someone gave a glitch somewhere on the web that claimed that you could make a star come out of the pond cannon and when you shoot up to the roof it would not be there, and that you should land on the sun. This could be what they meant by the sun.

It is also weird because I've been flying into that window several times to see if I could find any passages inside the tower leading somewhere other than the black room. I was specifically trying to fall to the water that is under the castle.

So far nothing but beating my noggin against rubber force fields.

In a number of places under water I can pump B so that Mario disappears entirely inside the wall. But he still is not "officially" through it.

So far the jolly roger glitch is the only one I know where a polygon glitch occurs under water. But you might remember that even in that instance Mario runs afowl of circumventing "course boundaries", and he appears to be squeezing through an invisible "chimney" during the entire exursion to the "secret lagoon". The elusive trip to the water under the castle may be a similar experience. Maybe there is a place where you can drop into the water, but are confined to a vertical motion where you either have to reset or swim downward to drown and land on the drawbridge.

Don´t know if someone notice this already...

You must have the Levitation Cheat activated.

Enter any world and star near a star. Now jump into it and press L. If you press L before landing, the music will stop, the star will be gone and the game will go on. If you press L right before Mario sais "Here we go!", the camera will be spinning around you. This won´t stop until you leave that level.

hi guys.. this is just a different outcome of a glitch already reported, the 'big red F' glitch (which does look like a trapdoor opened, as pablo mentioned, but is it in the right spot of the castle to be that?)

against that same wall, using the camera to maneuver around, you can see a pulsing white object, as in this below pic:

http://www.morphism.org/bh/lakitucloud.JPG

it took me a minute to realize that it is the lakitu cloud being reflected off the mirror in the room through the starred door, with no lakitu on it..

i get this, rather than the 'red f'/trapdoor..

From: Bullet Bill | Posted: 12/28/2003 4:09:39 AM | Message Detail
The picture you posted is on the second floor. The red F is found in the entry to Cool, Cool Mountain, which is next door to Bowser In the Dark World.

Stand facing into the corner between the left two show paintings, and zoom up to look-around mode. Look to the left behind the left painting and you will see the F.

Then go do the bowser course so the door is left open, and come back and look at the red F again. Changed.

From the report I got I was expecting to be able to look under the castle roof and see the galaxy painting, but all I see is a big empty space with water under it.

The only explanation I have is that you have come upon some sort of "array out of bounds" exception. Sometimes the game will detect this and kill you, like in the corner of the castle roof (as many of you know about). But you may have circumvented a course boundary inside the tower which the game didn't detect, and entered an adjacent memory array where the galaxy painting is stored.

One trick for getting Luigi mentioned on another site had a couple entries that included the step of shooting up to the "pointy part of the roof, which will kill you". Then they said you would find the roof missing and you do a butt-slam on the sun. Hmmm. But of course they may have been claiming that the roof was gone and that you could see down into the castle foyer.

An "Array out of bounds" error is one that programmers would know about. An array is a common way of storing data in memory, and is typically set at the beginning of the program to a certain size. You access data in the memory with the array name and an index value, such as castleOutside[j], where j is the index value for the particular data byte being accessed. If j exceeds the range of values assigned to the array, the computer triggers an error condition to stop you. In Super Mario 64, the error handler for this might be the "Kill Mario" event.

It may be possible in some way to slam against the course boundary so fast that the computer doesn't trap it, allowing you to cross into another memory area and display a graphic stored in nearby memory, such as the galaxy.

I dont know if this has been posted before (Im not reading through 32 pages to see) but heres the glitch:

In Shifting Sand Land, let the bird take your cap, then hit him so he drops it but DO NOT PICK IT UP! Instead, go to the palm tree and warp. Warp back and there will be 2 caps instead of one on the same place. Dont pick them up but instead warp back and forth about 50 times and the game will freeze.

Great glitch site. I'm particularly impressed by the brevity and clarity of the descriptions, particularly for the wall glitch in Tall, Tall Mountain. I speak as someone who has been rewording my descriptions of it a number of times to try to make it understandable.

I'm also glad that you are covering the little-known bizarre glitches that most of the Mario world has yet to discover, rather than the constant old rehashing of the clockhand "glitch", the Mario hat factory, and high-jumping into Wet-Dry World.

Continue what you started, and you will have a treasure chest of secrets that even Dave Wonn and Walton Dell don't know about.

Sit around everyone, as grandpa anthpel11 is going to tell the story of how he found a glitch in the 1st star of Shifting Sand Land.

2 days ago, I was playing with my friend in his file. We had just got up to Shifting Sand Land (We like to play the game when no one else is around, and that doesn't happen too often) and we started to do the first star. We then went up to the mean ol' Klepto. I went up the tower near the oasis, and tried to jump kick the bird. Instead, I accidently touched the star by jumping into the bird's feet.

You see, when I got the star from jumping into the bird's feet, the star traveled near the row of coins between the two towers. However, somethign happend as soon as I got the star. NO MUSIC OR SOUND EFFECTS WAS BEING PLAYED. SILENCE WAS THERE. And when I got the star, the game froze.

THAT'S THE STORY
From: Bullet Bill | Posted: 1/31/2004 5:59:53 AM | Message Detail
We can't know it was because you went right for the star. I'd assume that it's the same whether you get the bird or the star. If you can't get it to happen more than once, your game may have been the victim of a "quantum prominence". My game has at least once frozen for no particular reason.

I would like anyone who can to look for polygon glitches that let you go underground or under hills in courses that have no "abyss" (where you fall away). An example may be getting inside the Bob-Omb mountain, where you would probably be walking on the invisible world border beneath it.

This would be interesting especially because I know no place in the game yet where Mario has access to an unprotected horizontal world border. For all we know it could be "infinitely slippery" and Mario would either be stuck in one position or move steadily on one direction, unable in either case to change his horizontal state of motion.

Someone may want to just for starters look for a place like this with a Gameshark to see what it is like. Then we can look for polygon glitches to provide access for the "unsharked".
