I found something weird with the Toad near TTM. Check out the video to understand what I'm talking about.(excuse the poor quality, this was taken from a digital camera)

That's definetly supposed to happen...You already talked to him, why would you want to talk to him right away like that?

And that thing about standing on the side of the castle is quite old too. As old as the first 120 star file most likely.
From: Lord_Yojimbo29 | Posted: 1/3/2006 12:44:05 PM | Message Detail
The point was that he didn't solidify and allow me to speak to him again. And that he was in the same position after I spoke to him.

That happens with every single Toad in the game. If you go away and then come back to him he'll be solid again.

You guys probably know this, but there are some spots in certain courses where you can throw enemies(usually Bomb-Ombs or Chuck-Ya) off of cliffs, then when you jump off the cliff, you see the enemies that you have thrown over. I've seen this work in TTM and RR, and it seems to only happen in certain spots with throwable enemies, as well.

The thing I found a little bizarre about it is that when I threw a Chuck-Ya off of a cliff on TTM, along with 3 Bomb-Ombs, as Mario fell downward, Chuck-Ya seemed to hit the bottom of the course, and then release the 5 coins you get for killing him. I thought that these areas were...bottomless, so I was a little confused.

From: Zanapher | Posted: 1/4/2006 5:06:50 AM | Message Detail
The game doesn't really consider these areas as bottomless. All levels are inside a huge box, and the enemies cannot fall beyond the box.
The border of these boxes trigger the death scene (and warp ou of the level) before Mario reaches the floor, but the enemies have no effect, so they simply fall to the ground and explode releasing coins as they would on a normal floor.

That's what I thought about the borders of the levels.(I probably began thinking about this when I was playing this a long time ago, and hit the border of the level from a cannon in WF.)

I got a question about the camera: Why does it jerk when you get near a ledge?

Where are all the regular people of this board?

Anyway, I'm coming back to my N64 on Monday, and will do whatever it takes to get 255 coins in the levels where it now is possible through the new glitch. You guys should see this as a chance to finally beat my record. You have a head start, so why don't you get going?

Let's take the challenge now! Finally, there is something new and difficult to do in this game.

After getting the 77th Coinless Star, I didn't feel like turning it off, so I tried a few of these glitches, with confusing first impressions.
First, I decided to see just how difficult that 78th Coinless Star in Shifting Sand Land was, even though I wasn't planning on really trying for it right then. I got to one of the coins, and tried to just activate the checkpoint - and succeeded my first try. For the next 25 minutes I tried others, but couldn't get any. I know it's really difficult, but after succeeding that first try, it seemed (and still seems) easier than it is.
So I decided to try BLJing on elevators, and also succeeded on my very first try (in HMC where you fly out of bounds). So I tried that, too for another 30 or so minutes, and only succeeded once more, leaving me again wondering just how hard it really is.
This after a moneybag cloning on the second hop the first time I really thought to go after extra coins really has me wondering.
How hard, maybe on a scale of 1-10, is it to pull off these glitches (I know the moneybags are random)?

Have you done this one yet??
BACKWARDS CASTLE ENTRANCE
you need 120 stars to do this trick
1. You go into the cannon by the lake.
2. You jump up to Yoshi and get 99 lives
3. Get the flight cap
4. QUICKLY go back to the cannon
5. See peach now go 1 or 2 levels above her (not sure)
6. lift off
7. now once you get to that level start jumping and jumping aginst the wall until you go through the wall
now you lose a lot of health but now you are inside the castle entrance but you listening to the music that is for the outside area walk through the doors to be outside with the inside music now go back through the door so you are where you fell and walk through the wall to reset this glitch
I hope started something really cool :)

I really hope so, but then again that would be one cruel joke. Isn't the post on the first page good enough for people to see when they first come to this topic? Do we have to include every single quirk, glitch, trick, secret, or unusual effect that isnt really a glitch that can possibly exist in the entire game to keep from posts like that? I mean its good when people are looking for glitches, but they really shouldn't post stuff that is either not a glitch or is like 8 years old...

I wonder if there's anything else you can do by making the 100-coin stars show up in strange places?

Here is a video I made about this some months ago:

http://rapidshare.de/files/10666396/Filimonas_100-coins_Stars.wmv.html

The game doesn't really consider these areas as bottomless. All levels are inside a huge box, and the enemies cannot fall beyond the box.

Check the 100 coins-star in RR in my video for that!

I decided to see just how difficult that 78th Coinless Star in Shifting Sand Land was, even though I wasn't planning on really trying for it right then. I got to one of the coins, and tried to just activate the checkpoint - and succeeded my first try. For the next 25 minutes I tried others, but couldn't get any. I know it's really difficult, but after succeeding that first try, it seemed (and still seems) easier than it is.

I can assure you, it is really tough. That's why only 2 people have done this so far.

Keep up the good job guys. It is awesome what secrets can reveal just a single glitch. The day will come, that the max of possible coins will be 15 x 255 = 3.825

No one seems to care about reaching a coin WR anymore, but I just want to report that I have 2399 coins right now. I worked on it last night.

So far, I have gotten "all" 143 coins in WF, which took almost three hours, and 157 in BOB. Just getting ten coins with the Bob-Omb Glitch took one hour, so getting the 109 extra coins that's required would probably take one whole day. My thumb begun to complain pretty early, too. I need better controls...

I also experimented by doing similar glitches, with springing boxes and underwater shells. For example, I tried re-picking a shell exactly the moment it disappears, (after 20 flutter kicks), but it didn't work.

Anyway, good luck, everyone.

One hour? It took me around 40 minutes to get 20 coins in BOB... What Bob-Omb are you using for the glitch?

I use different Bob-Ombs all the time. Either the one closest to the Chain Chomp, one of the four in the water bomb meadow, or the on close to a cannon and a cork box next to the mountain.

I haven't find any solution to what makes the Bob-Omb transform into a coin instead of something else. Sometimes, I wander around with the same Bob-Omb for ten minutes without result. The different coin places seems to be the best at different times.

Getting the two extra coins in WF was hard, mainly because it requires extreme timing. And even if I succeded a few times with the first box, it must be done again with the second box without fail. (I got 142 coins pretty quick.)

A problem I had was that the second box isn't placed that well to do the glitch. After a lot of tries, I decided to take that box to the start and do it the same way as the first box. That was a lot easier.

You can get the 2 extra coins first and then go for the rest.
It is much easier this way and you can retry if you fail.

^^I did that. But when I succeded with the first box but failed with the second, I collected all the other coins anyway, so I at least would get a new record. I only did that once, of course.

Hey. I have discovered two glitches. They aren't major, or even related to the Bob-Omb glitch we've been talking about. ;( But I thought I should post them anyway.

AUTOMATICALLY DIE IN SNOWMAN'S LAND

What you have to do is go to the freezing pond. Use the spinner and get to where the star for "Whirl From the Freezing Pond" is. Instead of hitting the star block, hit the block on the right. Basically, get the Koopa Shell. Then head over to the Bully island. Ride underneath it, and if you are heading the right way, you should see a path leading up to the island, except you will see the underside of it. Crash into it so the Koopa Shell breaks, and then Mario is stuck between freezing water and the path. He also gets his tongue twisted when he tries to say multiple "Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaa"s. So it sounds kinda cool. I tried escaping once getting under there, and wasn't able to. There probably is a way, so feel free to say so if you do it.

FALL THROUGH TALL, TALL MOUNTAIN

I was only able to do this once, so, sorry if it doesn't work. First, from the start, I went behind the start point to where the 1-Up is, and used the wind around that part to get to where Chuckya is. (if you don't know what I mean you can also go the long way) Then, I destroyed Chuckya to get him out of the way. Now, notice how the star for "Mysterious Mountainside" is right below, in an alcove cut into the wall. This alcove can be reached by jumping down there, kicking and holding towards the wall. While trying to do this, I landed on the little rope fence that you see on the edge there. Then Mario fell through the mountain and died. I wasn't able to do it again, so it might've been a one-time thing. I'll report back when I have more info.

Well, I use the Bob-Omb that is next to the water bomb cannon. I'm not good at explaining things, so I made a video (using an emulator) of what I do.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9FY9XK43

Keep in mind that I didn't use savestates, so that seems to be the perfect place for duplicating coins faster.

Sometimes, when I do the BLJ through the 50 stars door I don't get into the room behind it but Mario falls through the floor, the picture of Wet-Dry-World appears and the level starts. What is this?

This happens when you BLJ to the left in the infinite stairs, but it has never happened to me in the 50 stars door stairs. O_o

What all different things can happen by BLJing past through the endless stairs? I just read that ending up in WDW happening if you do it on the left of the endless stairs but what and doing it at the middle or the right or even between left and middle or between right and middle?

I have never done the BLJ before in this game cause my game got lost after a move about 6 months ago. Anyway, I have read about all the glitches discovered with it and the endless stairs one interests me the most. I also feel that not everything about this glitch has been discovered yet. I've only read about 2 or 3 different things that can happen doing this glitch and I think there must be more since there are lots of different places to do this on the stairs. Maybe I'm wrong but that is my 2 cents.

Is this an easier route, harder route, or impossible?

That'd be regarding a new route to do the Dry Pipe glitch in WDW. I don't know for sure if it's possible, but we can test, right?

What I'm suggesting is to go to the town area with the water level all the way up. (default) Now, swim down from the pipe and hit the water level changer, what I'm wondering is if it's possible to swim up right after hitting the switch, and try jumping up to the pipe while the water is moving down. No idea if it's possible, but, never know, eh? :P

Discovered a new glitch, kinda cool.

The Amazing Hover Mario!

First, get Chuckya down off his platform in WDW. Then go an raise the water level up. Now perform the Invisible Mario glitch. While you are controlling the invisible Mario (and the invisible Chuckya) swim a little bit away from the real Chuckya, get to the surface, and press B. With some luck, the invisible Chuckya will grab you before disappearing, and Mario will be left there, above the water, flailing his arms and legs like mad. This takes a bit of luck, as the invisible Chuckya doesn't always grab you. Sometimes you will hover above the water for like half a second. The first time I did it, I stayed there until I reset the game, because I couldn't move, so that may be random as well.

The Frigz: An easy method already exists for getting into the dry pipe, which involves long jumping from the building opposite the grate, then doing a double wall jump into the pipe. As for the water part of it, I don't think it would make any difference as the water levels on the town side can be controlled anyway.

As for The Amazing Hover Mario! Brightguy first found these effects when doing the original chuck-ya glitch ages ago and I recreated it for this topic on SystemCrash

http://domdunc.proboards21.com/index.cgi?board=glitchsubmit&action=display&thread=1117747106

in which I combine the chuck-ya glitch with the dry-pipe glitch to see which objects I could bring into the main world. This allows you to get two Chuck-ya's in WDW, which is quite cool and lets you do the hovering glitch you described, I have a video of it if anyone wants.
