Let's inject a speck of life back into this topic with the bones from a recent topic.

The "What does Mario say" topics somehow mysteriously disappeared. So I have no idea if anyone in them made the observation I'm about to give. I just got the Mario 64 DS. When I heard the three characters talking at the beginning, I overheard Mario plainly saying "Let's-a-go." This is also what he clearly says when you enter a level in Advance SMB3. So the Let's-a-go's have it.

They may have redone it for the SM64DS because people had so much trouble understanding it in SM64.

Maybe the "So long Kaybountain" mystery is also revealed in SM64DS. But I'm miles away from getting to that level, so another person will have to provide that information.

Question, A long while ago I was at these boards (I see you found a lot more glitches). I was here when the Chuck-ya glitch was just being discovered. Someone had gotten Chuck-ya into the castle, was anyone able to get this to happen again? Or was it a fake?
From: The Great Onion Kid | Posted: 11/27/2005 7:14:34 PM | Message Detail
If they did, they likely used a GS to swap the skins for Chuckya and (in this example) Toad.

From: Nintendofankid | Posted: 11/27/2005 7:32:49 PM | Message Detail
Well , he/she claimed to have done it w/ out using any cheat device and did it by having Chuck-ya grab onto him as he was falling off the cliff and Chuckya came back with him into the castle.
From: The Great Onion Kid | Posted: 11/28/2005 12:55:41 PM | Message Detail
I doubt it. Every world is in an invisible box, and if a monster falls off the ledge (Gooma in RR) then when it hits the bottom it acts like a floor. So if it did happen, Chuckya would've hit the ground and exploded into coins, while Mario goes back to the castle. And I think some of the board vets, basically the best Mario players in the world, have tried to no avail.

Has anyone tried anything with the Chuckya in RR? It would be really neat, i think, to make it grab you as your falling, and then leave you stuck at the bottom of the course like you can do in TTM. Just a thought...

It was discovered by the person who is currently making the 120 star TAS, FODA (don't know if that is an O or a zero, but whatever), that it is possible to screw things up by bljing on the rising elevator at the start of BBB, and if done right, you can essentially teleport from the elevator to right behind chain chomp's gate with LITERALLY 0 frames transition from point A (last jump on elevator) and point B (near the star behind chain chomp's gate). This is a very exciting glitch and its definetly worth looking into on other elevators.

Just thought I'd point that out as it's quite relevant to this topic.

I've gotten myself thrown to the edge of the BitFS course by BLJing in the elevator that goes up from the cage. But as for using the platform in Bob-Omb Battlefield (the one that goes around and around) to get behind Chomp's gate, I just never thought about that one.

well, heres a .m64 file of it being done pretty well if you want to dig up the modified mupen 64 emulator in the n64 section of bisqwit's forums.

http://rapidshare.de/files/8850655/SUPER_MARIO_64__USA_-throughthegate-34-frames-faster.m64.html

It looks tough, but I'm pretty sure its doable. There is an easier way that is one frame slower that involves bouncing off a green rock before getting behind the gate.

And I was well aware that you discovered the elevator bljing, dom dunc, I just wanted to let you guys know of a new application of it. I've actually been lurking around these topics since before the endless stairs were skipped, just never bothered to get an account.

Oh and sorry about saying BBB. I've just always thought of it as bob-bomb battlefield. I mean it makes sence, I know what a bomb is, and thats what the little guys are, but what is a "omb"? I don't know, i just never checked my facts, but yeah, I mean BOB.

Ok hi, i'm the one making the 120 TAS, and i had the idea to use the backwards long jumping on the elevator before watching your video Dom Dunc. I had already watched many other videos from you and other people, but not any video on elevators. Oh well i thought i had discovered a really cool trick hehe :) At least nobody had used it the way i did in the video.

I made an avi of it and uploaded to google videos, it should be up soon (search "mario 64 glitch") and you may find it when it's done verifying. Or you can tell me an e-mail so i can send it to you (it's a 5 mb xvid avi).

Thanks for all you have done for mario 64, i hope to use a lot of techniques it in the TAS that would take too long for myself to find otherwise. Of course, i hope to find some other efficient aplications to existing tricks and make an awesome 120 stars TAS video!

Also, mario says "so lonnnGUE bowSER!" see he is italian, and he actually pronnounces the "g" as if it was a whole syllabe (or whatever the name is in english). Any latino understands perfectly what he says there.

Actually i was thinking that it would be really nice if some of you mario 64 gods could watch some of my wips and maybe give some ideas ^^ I have a completed test run its 2 hours and 10 minutes long, and it was made mainly to test the castle route (we were planning which would be the theoretical best levels order). So the way i got the stars doesn't really matter as i didn't put much thought into it, was more playing around.

Are you or curtis interested in participating on this? i'm already planning to credit you guys on the text for discovering tricks and strategies, though. But if you could help it would be good. You could first watch the test run and tell me if the castle route may be faster otherwise?
From: Dom Dunc | Posted: 12/11/2005 7:43:27 AM | Message Detail
I'm sure Curtis would be much better than me at coming up with star strategies, but I'd be happy to help in any way I can. The only problem I've got is that your videos don't work with my SM64 ROM so if you could hook me up with the ROM you use then I can watch them.

That's normal. Sometimes you die and sometimes the game just freezes (it appears to be random). One day I was doing BLJs in the same elevator and Mario got through the wall but didn't die. Then I heard the "Waaa!" sound (the one when Mario dies), but it sounded like SSB's Luigi's voice instead of Mario's! After that Mario died and he appeared outside of the course like normal. That was really weird... I posted this some time ago in this topic, but nobody seemed to care about it. >_<

It could be that you found a beta sample of Luigi's voice that they forgot to delete when he was bumped from the game.

See if you can repeat the same glitch, and then record and post the video.

120 star TAS? I'm really looking forward to it.

Also, you probably already know that if you use Chuck-ya to push you through the walls in Wet Dry you fall into the pipe and that if you do it against the wall where Chuck-ya originally was you fall beyond the loading point.

I did that after draining the town side of the pipe and swimming through the loading point there was a split second in which there was no water.

I made a video of it: http://www.linksoasis.net/Hawk/Mario64/Glitches/Into%20the%20Pipe.avi

I'm pretty proud of the glitch I found yesterday.

The first one is something me and my cousin made when we were bored and it just shows off a bunch of random glitches. (the one on the wall of the lobby I also discovered but its not that interesting) When I get to BOB, I do some random and rather boring glitches that have all been known, and then i discovered completely at random some things that can be done with Bob-ombs that will make you crap your pants. The second movie gets right to the point and shows a few effects of the glitch that I couldnt get to happen the first time around. Ok, so heres the explanation:

When I first figured it out, I had no idea how I did it, and I wasnt recording. I went back to try and figure it out after taking screenshots of as many effects as I could (which I will post at the end). So after expirementing with it some, I realized you can do it with any bob-omb at absolutely any time. I thought you needed a corner of two walls for some reason, which is why the first few times i activate the glitch in the movies, I head to that same corner. Here is exactly how to activate it:

Grab a bob-omb and wait until it is about to blow up and throw it so it gets huge. It will drop out of your hands for a split second, which is when you have to grab it again. If you do it right, either you will grab it and it won't explode, or you will grab it, it will explode, and you will be holding a giant bob-omb that won't explode. If it doesnt explode, its ok, just keep tapping B as fast as you can except when you see it explode, press B one more time, and stop, or else you will throw the glitch away. Anyway once you get this ghost bobomb, start running around the level. You will get some very strange effects. I'll try to write down all the ones I could find in the order that I found them:

Mario carries a goomba.

Mario carries a squished goomba (when you jump on a different goomba)

Mario carries a piece of the Chain-Chomp's chain. It is actually 2d.

Many times, mario would carry little white dots that look like possibly the eyes of bobombs...both large and small.

I don't have any idea what triggers this, but a lot of the times, he carries some smoke that looks like an evil smiley face. He would also carry smoke that looks like some sort of shield

The best one I ever got was the Chain Chomp teleporting to next to the bridge at the beginning of the level. In the movie, I finally replicated this, but this time he goes underneath the tilty bridge. I show what happens to him when you stomp his post also.

Later I got a bob-omb at random, that wouldnt blow up. You can press Z to drop it and it functions just like a normal bob-omb and you can actually do the glitch again.

Soon, this bob-omb turned into a giant bob-omb with half closed eyes for no apparent reason.

Its also possible to carry a coin. Sometimes this coin stops spinning and completely 2d.

Whenever you are around exploding water bombs, you usually will hold a bubble. Sometimes it is bigger or smaller.

The second best effect I've ever seen was when i jumped from the top of the mountain and halfway down I started holding the tube from a cannon. When i hit the ground, it squished along with mario and popped back up.

While going up and down the mountain sometimes you start carrying one of the balls that rolls down, except, its 2d.

3 times, when I jumped over a water ball that was falling, I "caught" it. When another water bomb exploded, the ball I was carrying turned into a giant squished water bomb. You have to see it to understand.

When I walked behind a moving 1-up, I started holding the "sparkle" of the 1-up.

Every now and then when I collected a coin, I would carry the sparkle you make when you collect it.

I really don't know how this happened, but one time, when a bob-omb exploded, its explosion stayed there and I walked around it.
From: firstJammer01 | Posted: 12/21/2005 3:49:42 PM | Message Detail
You can also sometimes carry its explosion, as well as the smoke above its head that it makes when its chasing you.

With almost any object, when you do a buttslam, or bump into a wall, or grab onto the edge of a ledge, sometimes the object will just stay there. It can be pretty funny. Look at the pictures to see one especially funny thing that involves the rolling black balls.

And that is all that I remember, although, there might have been a few slight different effects that really arent that important. Here are the pictures that I got:

http://rapidshare.de/files/9592538/screen48.zip.html
(keep in mind its pretty big, 24 megs, its a zip of 51 screenshots)

here are 2 .m64 files that show it off:

http://rapidshare.de/files/9551200/sm64glitches.m64.html

http://rapidshare.de/files/9551215/bobombglitching.m64.html

I thought you needed a corner of two walls for some reason, which is why the first few times i activate the glitch in the movies, I head to that same corner.

Soon I'm going to try out these glitches in SSL, TTM, TTC, and RR.

I really hope that all this only happening because I'm on an emulator, so if some of you guys could try it out on a real console, that would be cool. It doesnt seem like an emulator-only glitch, because normally those involve going out of bounds and stuff. Anyway, I'm up north right now, and I can't really play the game until I get back, so feel free to mess around with it on the other levels and stuff and most importantly let us know if its an emulator only glitch or not. Don't give up right away though, because I may make it look very easy in the video, but keep in mind I had savestates and abused them heavily. It takes very precise timing, so dont just assume its an emulator only glitch right away.

Anyway, enjoy it, and make sure you post anything different you get that I didnt get.

(sorry if some of this was incoherent, but the first post I made was too long and I had to break it up to fit into two posts and I'm not sure if I split it up right)
