Ok, I tried it on the console a few times. Looks like it's absolutely possible to BLJ there, but it's extremely difficult without using savestates. It worked for me only once but I screwed up by grabbing to the edge of the pillar with the coins, thus losing all the speed. :P Anyway, it seems that I found the exact point of the wall where you have to jump in order to get inside the pillar. I can do it in my first or second try on both sides. This means that is the exact same point for both left and right sides, so the left side is not harder as mr_roberts_z said. =O I'm going to try it now using Mupen64. I'm not a good TASer, but you don't know until you try... --- My SM64 records: 120 stars - 2:46 / 16 stars - 0:22 |

I was working on this glitch for about 1 hour now (!!!) This is the closest I could make it to the Bowser trap. I guess it is impossible to get to Bowser 1. The best you may achieve is to enter CCM without opening the door with the 3 stars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58HxMfaI43M |

Great news! We HAVE to find a way through this Bowser door in the basement without MIPS. I'd love to see this on a real console for future runs, but I guess this is only possible TAS'ed... |

The only place that comes to mind is using Toad to merge into the pillar behind him. Hopefully, there would be an invisible wall behind there. You'd be at a bad angle, and you would have very little room to BLJ, but it could work... --- **Join my Video Quiz at the Super Mario 64 boards!** |

Nice find! It would be pretty nice to be able to do it in real play though. I've encountered a lot of invisible "boundary" walls before (they occur where there is no ground), but I can't ever recall having a BLJ opportunity. So there must be a special characteristic... There seemed to be some confusion over if it was possible to stand behind the Dire, Dire Docks entrance. I've posted about this before: it is indeed possible, if you can find some way to get through it. You can get there if you have access to the game's internal memory (e.g., using an emulator or GameShark). Stand in front of the entrance and set the "Board Bowser's Sub" to be completed. The portal will start to retreat, and before it reaches the end, run to the Bowser in the Fire Sea entrance, and set "Board Bowser's Sub" to not be completed... the portal will move back and you'll be behind it. You can also get there with the super-speed code. Here's a screenshot showing how thick the warp is... if I walk any closer to it I'll enter the level: www.sm64.com/pics/behind_DDD.jpg |

Sorry for double post, but how hard have people tried to get into the 'Eye to Eye in the Secret Room' room? It looks to me like you can get into the pillar on the legde in the previous room.
